Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Hello! We are Riley and Katelynn. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and to learn more about us as prospective parents. We are excited to expand our family and to have a child to love and cherish.

Our Story

We were high school sweethearts. We met at church in 2006 when Riley’s dad became the Pastor of our church and quickly became friends. Our friendship turned into something more as we got older. In 2012, we started dating. Three years later, we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Riley proposed in the fall of 2015, and on an extremely hot and humid day in July of 2016, we got married.

Funny fact: the day Riley proposed to Katelynn, she was in a bad mood and was shocked he still proposed that day. Of course, she said yes, and it turned her entire day right around.

About three years after getting married, we decided to start a family. Due to some health issues, we knew we would have to conceive through IVF (in vitro). We did IVF for almost five years and never had any success. We have now been told we will never be able to have a biological child. As hard as this news was, we knew it was not the end. We would be parents one way or another. We are excited to start this adoption journey and cannot wait to finally hold a precious child in our arms.

About my Amazing Husband, by Katelynn

Riley is a warehouse manager for a large franchise. He is hardworking and puts 110% into everything he does. He is also loving and caring. He has a big heart and always puts the needs of others before his own. This quality is something I have always admired about him.

Riley is also funny. I always told my friends and family I needed to marry a guy who could make me laugh. Well, I found him. Whether he is telling a joke, quoting a movie, or just being silly, he always has me cracking up.

Riley is not one to just sit around. Although we like our lounge movie nights, Riley likes to stay active. The golf course is where you will find him most Saturdays. Unless something needs fixing around the house, then he becomes the handyman. Sundays, he always helps at our church. Ushering, teaching children, or helping with cleanup. He is always willing to lend a hand.

Watching Riley with kids always warms my heart. He is so good with them, and you can just tell he will make an amazing dad. He is fun yet gentle and sweet. I can’t wait to see the kind of dad he will be with our future child.

About My Loving Wife, by Riley

Katelynn works from home doing data entry. She enjoys the flexibility of working from home. (our dog loves it too). When Katelynn puts her mind to something she always puts her all into it. Seeing her interact with people, I have noticed that she brings joy to every conversation. Always seemingly in a good mood even when things are not perfect.

Katelynn volunteers at our church and is a teacher for the 4- to 5-year-old Sunday school class. The kids absolutely love her, they see how fun and loving she is. I know from so many examples that she will be a great mom. From the kids at church, our nieces and nephews, and even our dog Wesley.

Katelynn enjoys baking. She has been baking since she was a child. You can tell she enjoys it as she usually sings along with music. She also enjoys homemaking/decorating. There is always rearranging or some new decoration that she wants my opinion on. I have learned her style suggestions always turn out great. Another thing Katelynn enjoys is taking walks/hikes with our Chocolate Lab, Wesley, as well as enjoying nature and getting some exercise.

Katelynn has always found a way to deal with the difficulties in life. Shifting her focus to the things that really matter. God has closed the door to us being able to conceive naturally or through IFV. This has brought us to adoption, where we pray for a perfect match. Katelynn’s dream has always been to be a stay-at-home mom. We hope that someday, this dream will come true.

Our Home

We live in a charming ranch-style home built in 1950. We bought it as a fixer-upper back in 2018. Since then, we have done many updates to make the house feel like a home. Including remodeling the kitchen where Katelynn loves to bake and Riley loves to taste test. This is also where Riley perfects his espresso-making skills. We have a beautiful sunroom where we can picture our child playing someday.

We have one of the biggest backyards in our neighborhood. It’s the perfect backyard to have cookouts and have our cornhole tournaments. Our dog Wesley has a run in the back so he can just relax. For the last couple of years, we have had Christmas parties and hosted Easter at our house. These are just some of the holidays we can’t wait for a child to be a part of.

Our neighborhood has two beautiful walking parks close by. One is within walking distance of our house. We walk Wesley daily at one of these parks. Most days we walk with Katelynn’s parents as they live just minutes from our house. We also have lots of great schools and playgrounds close by. There is also a petting zoo close by that our little cousins love to go to. The highway is nearby if we want to do a beach trip or just grab some ice cream.

Our Families

We may not have any children yet, but we do have a chocolate lab that we consider our spoiled fur baby. Wesley is five years old and full of energy and love. He lives for food, walks, and snuggles and brings such joy to our lives. Riley surprised Katelynn with Wesley on her birthday one year. Since that day, Wesley has been part of the family, and we can’t imagine our life without him.

God has blessed us with a wonderful big family. Parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles live close by, so big family get-togethers are quite common. Siblings, nieces, and nephews are sadly not close by, but when we do get together, we make sure it’s packed full of fun new memories. No matter what, everyone stays connected and shows love and support. Everyone is beyond thrilled we are adopting and says they can’t wait to meet the new little addition to our family!

We are also blessed to have such an amazing church family. Our church has a great family atmosphere, and everyone just loves and cares for each other. Everyone there has been super supportive of our adoption plans and always says they are so happy for us. Weekly, people at church come up to us and ask if there is any news on a baby yet. You can tell they are all just as excited as we are.

Spring: When we think of spring, we think of Easter. Easter has always been a huge celebration in both of our houses growing up. Singing in the church choir, huge family get-togethers, and, of course, the famous egg hunt. To this day, we love watching all the children search for easter eggs.

Summer: It’s hard to pick just one thing in summer because our summers are filled with so many wonderful things. Cookouts, beach trips, hiking, pool parties, Six Flags, and on it goes. We will say we do look forward to the Fourth of July when we have a big family cookout and enjoy fireworks.

Fall: New England is one of the most beautiful places in fall. The changing leaves are one of our favorite things about fall. We can’t wait to take a child apple picking and come home and bake pies. We also think about FOOTBALL! We are big Patriots fans and can’t wait to turn our little one into a fan as well.

Winter: Christmas is our favorite holiday. We like picking out the tree and decorating it, putting up all the lights, baking cookies while Christmas music plays in the background, and watching Christmas movies every weekend. Plus, we always host a big Christmas party. There is great food, games, ping pong, hot chocolate, and an assortment of desserts. We know having a child to do all this with will only bring more joy and happiness into our lives.

Thank You

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We have prayed for this child for so long, and thank you for considering us. We realize this is a difficult decision you have ahead of you, and we admire your strength and selflessness.

We promise this baby will never feel unloved or unwanted. We will dedicate our lives to ensuring this child has everything they need. Especially unconditional love and support. All our friends and family are ready to open their arms and hearts to this precious child. This baby will have more love than they know what to do with.

We promise that this child will know the huge, loving choice you made. Regardless of what level of openness you desire, this child will know you made this decision based on love.

As we wait for the child that will join our family, we just want you to know that no matter what you decide we wish the absolute best for you and your baby.
