Will & Meghan - A Full Circle Adoptions

Introduction

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Hi, We’re Will & Meghan. Thank you for your interest in us as prospective parents.

Our Story

Our story began when we met in college in 2011. We became close friends soon afterward. When Meghan graduated from college, she moved to NYC to teach inner-city girls reading and cooking classes. Will and his twin brother, Andrew, would often visit her there.

After 4 years of being close friends, we realized that we had accidentally fallen in love. We began dating and grew closer through our mutual sense of adventure, Catholic faith and values, humor, and love for cooking.

After dating for a few years, we both had opportunities to move for our jobs. Will moved to Utah and worked on a ski mountain, while Meghan moved to Israel and worked in a museum. Despite 5 months apart, a 9-hour time difference, and about 7,000 miles, we were committed to staying together. A couple of months after Meghan returned to the USA, Will proposed!

We got married in 2020 (despite the pandemic!), surrounded by close family and friends. We have always considered adoption for our family. In 2015, we found out that Meghan probably wouldn’t be able to have biological children. That confirmed for us that open adoption is the best way to share our love, our home, and our lives.

Meet Will

I’m happiest when spending time with Meghan, our friends, our families, and our dog Monty. I really like to stay active and I have always been involved in sports. In high school , I played baseball and football. In college, my twin brother Andrew and I were the captains of the rugby team. Now, I really enjoy playing golf and skiing. Teaching Meghan (and our kids) how to golf and ski are definitely on my to-do list!

In my work as an electrician, I’m in charge of the residential branch of the company. That means I work in different homes everyday, and I get to meet all kinds of people. It’s really rewarding when I am able to determine the problem and then resolve it for them. I also serve as a mentor for the younger apprentices. It can be a difficult job sometimes, but I love that everyday brings new and different challenges.

Five Things I Love About Will, by Meghan

Generosity: Will has such a spirit of service. He gives his time to anyone who needs it, and he will always be the first to offer help, even to strangers. It’s not unusual for him to spend his free time building a fence, wiring a shed, or installing lighting for a friend. If you ask, he will be there.

Adventurous spirit: Every single day feels like an adventure with Will. He can somehow turn even the most mundane chores into an epic road trip or game.

Sense of humor: When you spend time with Will, you’ll always end up laughing. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and is able to find joy in most situations.

Dedication & determination: Will is the hardest-working person I’ve ever met. He won’t quit when things get difficult. He also has a strong sense of justice and a passion for truth, and works hard to make the world a better place.

Outgoing: Will is so present and in-the-moment. He makes people feel seen and knows how to put everyone at ease with just a word or a smile.

Meet Meghan

I am naturally an introvert, but became more extroverted from growing up in a big family. Once I learned how to read, I never wanted to stop. I was an English major in college (and minored in Spanish). You can often find me reading a book or going for long walks—while listening to an audiobook, of course. If I’m not reading, I’m usually cooking fun recipes like beef bulgogi or chicken tinga, or trying out some new hobbies.

I like to say that I’m a lifelong learner, always wanting to try new things. Some of my favorite hobbies are painting, crocheting, and kayaking. I love teaching almost as much as I love learning, and I work part-time teaching English as a second language. I believe that you can always find a way to be creative and curious, bringing joy to any place or task. Now, I am the Director of Product Development for an online education company. So each day, I try to inspire our writers and make an impact on our students.

Five Things I Love About Meghan, by Will

Self-giving: If anyone needs help, Meghan will be there. For example, she used her own paid time off in order to stay for a week with her sister-in-law after she gave birth, and then did the same thing for her sister a year later.

Intelligence: Meghan is the smartest person I know. She is a deep thinker and very logical when it comes to problem-solving.

Thoughtfulness: Anyone who has received a gift from Meghan knows how thoughtful she is. She always puts extra thought and effort into everything, usually designing and creating things herself. Recently, she’s been making custom toys for our nieces and our friends’ children.

Hard working: When Meghan starts something, she will see it through to the end. She challenges both of us to work hard to create the home and the life we want.

Fun: Even work is fun together. Meghan has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh. She is cheerful and optimistic even in difficult situations.

Our Home

We bought our home a few months before we got married and it has been a labor of love fixing it up. We enjoy having friends and family over for dinner, game nights, and hanging out at our tiki bar in the basement. Meghan also works from home, so that made it even more important to have a dedicated place for her to work.

Since Meghan loves to read (and our house is full of books), Will built a Little Free Library so that we can share with our neighbors. Anyone is welcome to take a book (always free!) or leave a book. Will , along with our neighbor and a few other helpers, designed and built our backyard patio. It’s a great place to enjoy the sunshine and relax. We even use our projector to have some outdoor movie nights under the stars.

Our Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is so beautiful and welcoming. The couple who lives next door to us is expecting a baby soon. They’re thrilled with the idea of our children growing up together. We live across the street from a church and at the other end of our street is an elementary school. We both enjoy riding our bikes to the nearby stores and ice cream shops.

We spend a lot of time at the local park with our sweet dog, Monty. Luckily, the park is within walking distance and not only has plenty of trails, fields, an indoor ice rink, and ponds—but even a zoo, as well! The community farm-share is a highlight for us, as we get to experiment with cooking local , fresh fruit and vegetables.

Will loves that we have a golf course within walking distance, too. We like to go there for long walks and sledding in the winter. And, of course, to play a little golf.

Will’s Family

My brother Andrew and I have an older sister, Chelsey. We are half Sicilian and half Irish, so there are always really fun celebrations—a big Irish breakfast on St. Patrick’s Day and frying up calamari for the annual Mt. Carmel Italian festival are only two of them.

We’re so lucky that my family lives only 15 minutes away. We see each other at least once a week for dinners, concerts, or to play cards with my grandparents. They are all so thrilled that we are adopting and can’t wait to welcome a child into our fun-loving family.

Meghan’s Family

I have a big Irish Catholic family, with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. My older sister, Marykate, has learning disabilities, which has fostered an environment of patience and kindness among all of us. I am the 2nd oldest, and everyone likes to say that I’m the second mother of the household.

Most of our family is musically inclined. One tradition we have is to make songs or poems for each others’ birthdays or special events. Every year, we all look forward to our annual beach trip, where we spend 2 weeks together, playing games, swimming, collecting shells, and most of all—laughing way too much.

Two of my siblings are married and we have 4 nieces (we are godparents to 2 of them). Everyone in the family is very excited about the prospect of welcoming another child into the family.

Traditions & Hobbies

Both of our families have so many great traditions that we’ve been able to share with each other. And we’ve started some of our own traditions, too, many of which are rooted in our Catholic faith. And, since Will is Italian and Meghan loves cooking, most of our traditions also involve food. For example, every Sunday morning, we go to mass and then have a big breakfast and listen to Frank Sinatra or Norah Jones (or watch Formula 1 racing). Every night we eat dinner together and discuss our days. We have our neighbors come over every other week for a potluck dinner. On Holy Thursday, Meghan makes a big Passover dinner and we read scripture together.

Of course, we celebrate the other fun holidays, too, like New Year’s Eve, the 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

Seasonal Activities

In the spring, we like to be outside as much as we can, exploring nearby farms and small towns. Summer is great for outdoor concerts and movie nights, and swimming at the river nearby. We like to spend some time in Maine, at Will ’s grandparents’ condo on the beach. And we always try to make it to a Red Sox game. In the fall , we enjoy apple picking and hiking some of the local mountains. You can often find us out on an adventure, whether that’s something like an epic road trip to Florida or just pretending to be tourists in our own city.

Christmas has to be our favorite holiday. Every year, we host a tree trimming party at our house and invite our friends and both of our families. Everyone decorates the tree and we eat pizza and drink hot cider and eggnog. We always have a craft station to make your own ornaments, which is equally popular with the kids and adults. Towards the end of the night, we walk together to the church across the street and admire their lights, while singing carols.

Our Family Mission Statement

Something that we did when we got married was to create a family mission statement, a way to be intentional about reminding ourselves who we are and the things we value. This is what we came up with. We hope that when they’re old enough, our child will contribute their thoughts to this mission statement, too.

Family Mission Statement
We are curious, intrepid adventurers.
Seekers of stories and lovers of learning.
Always open to trying something new.
We are faithful and fun.
We live, love, and laugh loudly.
We are creators.
We are passionate about life and making things our own.
We are the helpers. The ones who serve.
We do the right thing. And we do it ourselves.

Thank You

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us and consider us as adoptive parents for your child. We are so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives.

Regardless of your choice, please know that we respect your process. We promise to provide your child with love, guidance, and a good education. If you choose us, your child will be surrounded by people who will love and support them through the highs and lows of life.

We want to support you and will follow your lead in how open you would like this adoption to be. Our wish is to make you comfortable. If you’re willing, we would love to welcome you into our lives. We believe very strongly in forming a family with a culture of faith, service, and plenty of laughter. We’re the couple who always shows up whenever anyone needs an extra set of hands, an adventure buddy, or just someone to listen.

Sincerely,

Will and Meghan
