Introduction
Dear Expectant Parent(s),
Hello, we are Sylvia and John! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and learn more about us as prospective parents.
Our Story
Our love story began outside a baseball game on a beautiful June night in 2018. After chatting online and quickly realizing how much we enjoyed each other’s witty banter, we were both eager to meet in person. A baseball game felt like the perfect first date for two big sports fans! From the moment we sat down, conversation flowed easily—there was laughter, connection, and plenty of smiles.
Just three months later, we became an official couple. Two months after that, we exchanged “I love you,” and within a year, we moved in together. Four years later—on the exact anniversary of our first date—we were married in June 2022, surrounded by family, friends, and our two mini boxers.
That summer, we began planning for the family we had always dreamed of. After two years of trying to conceive, we learned that both of us are infertile. While that news was difficult, we quickly realized that adoption was not just the right path—it was our path. Because Sylvia was adopted as a child, we both see adoption as a profound blessing, and we cannot wait to share our love, laughter, and home with the child we adopt.
About John (written by Sylvia)
John is the kindest, most caring man I’ve ever met. He’s the friend who surprises his buddies with great sports tickets. He’s the son who calls his father every day, just to keep him company after his mother passed away. He’s the dog owner who will throw the ball hundreds of times because he knows how much our dogs love it. He’s the husband I can rely on through every milestone — good or bad.
John is the steady rock of our household, a quality that also shines through in his career. As a financial analyst for a large company, he spends his days detecting and preventing fraud through data analysis and investigation. He not only excels at his job, but is also dedicated to the company, having been a loyal employee since 2016. Whether it’s a coworker or a restaurant waiter, John treats everyone with respect, compassion, and patience.
When it comes to children, John is every child’s favorite playmate. My eight-year-old nephew always picks Uncle John for basketball, and I can already picture him doing the same with the child we adopt.
It’s for all these reasons that I know John will make the most incredible dad. He’ll be the dad who reads bedtime stories in all the voices (he’s a great impressionist), the coach of the kid’s little league team, and will be an understanding dad, offering patience and empathy through any hurdle.
About Sylvia (written by John)
Sylvia will make a great mom, and I can say that with confidence based on everything I have grown to know and love about her. She is kind and caring and thoughtful; she likes everything to be taken care of and well-put-together around the house. She is the same way with her career, always reliable and making sure things are done on time, even if it means doing three jobs at once.
Watching the way Sylvia interacts with our niece and nephew gives me a glimpse of how she will be as a mother. Whenever we visit them, she is enthusiastic about playing whatever games they want to play, or inventing new ones. When they are shy or indirect about what they are trying to say, she has the ability to communicate and patiently draw it out of them until all of a sudden they are smiling and brimming with confidence. She goes out of her way to plan trips for us to visit them on their birthdays, and they are always excited to see her.
Then there are our two dogs, blessed with boundless energy and always looking to play or snuggle. She makes sure that they are healthy, happy, and well-adjusted. They follow her around all day, and sleep right up next to her at night. She gives them all of her love and then some, and they reciprocate. They get plenty of toys and treats, but mostly they just like to be near her, and that kind of energy is universal.
Our Home
Our home is bright, welcoming, and full of life. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’re greeted by our two adorable mini boxers, Finn and Fury. They’ll lead you into our kitchen, where you’ll instantly smell the remnants of John’s cooking — he inherited his mom’s incredible chef skills.
In the warm months, we spend our days outside in our fenced-in backyard. Our pool is a favorite spot for friends and family, especially their kids. Even though our dogs won’t swim, they love running around and joining in the fun. We often end summer nights around the fire pit, roasting s’mores and drinking hot chocolate. When the weather cools, you’ll find us cozied up in the living room, watching sports or playing video games, while Finn and Fury keep a close eye on the neighborhood.
Our neighborhood is filled with families and children, making Halloween one of our favorite times of the year. It’s a very safe area, which we value since Sylvia loves running with Fury and John enjoys long walks with Finn.
Less than a mile down the road are the town playground and community fields, which are constantly filled with local sporting events. The community hosts events at this location, such as the July 4th fireworks we attend annually. We love how close we are to everything—a quick 15-minute drive to our favorite breakfast spot, 20 minutes to the zoo, and 30 minutes to our state capital.
Our Family
We both grew up surrounded by family. Our parents were our biggest cheerleaders, and our siblings were our trusted confidants. John comes from a large, loving Irish family with lots of cousins, while Sylvia’s family is smaller but incredibly close-knit. Despite the difference in size, we were both raised in homes filled with love, laughter, and support — values we can’t wait to pass on to the next generation.
One of the best things about our families is how close they live. Everyone is within a two-hour drive, so family get-togethers happen often. Sylvia’s parents visit regularly, always bringing treats for the dogs, and we love taking road trips to see John’s dad and sister.
Our favorite family traditions happen during the winter holidays. Every year, we host Thanksgiving — John cooks an incredible meal while Sylvia makes the house sparkle with festive decorations. When December arrives, our home transforms into a “Chrismukkah” celebration of both Hanukkah and Christmas. Even Finn and Fury have special outfits.
These gatherings are filled with joy, food, and laughter. Every year, our families share the same heartfelt wish: that next year, there will be a new little one to celebrate with us.
Hobbies and Interests
Sylvia is an avid reader, finishing multiple books per month and always looking for new authors to enjoy. She brings her Kindle with her wherever she goes, filling any downtime by diving back into the latest adventure. She loves puzzle games and challenges herself with the latest Spelling Bee or Pips to keep her mind sharp.
John enjoys seeking out new artists, listening to back catalogues, and discovering a new favorite. He likes playing the guitar in his spare time, even if it’s just messing around trying out new riffs and songs that he’s recently heard.
Our biggest shared interest, though, is definitely sports. During weekends in the fall, the house is filled with football, food, and fun. We may support different NFL teams, but our bond is strong enough to overcome any rivalries and enjoy the time together. Sylvia sets up and decorates, while John handles the grilling. Whether it’s just the two of us or we’ve invited friends over to watch, we always make sure it’s a fun, relaxing day.
We have developed a shared rooting interest in LSU football, and we even have a tradition where we plan a trip to see a game in-person each year. We’ve traveled to see games in Baton Rouge, Nashville, Orlando, and even New Orleans where we saw them win the National Championship in their own backyard.
In the 2025 season, as we prepared for adoption, John bought a tiny LSU infant outfit and a night-light. We can’t wait for the day when we bring the child we adopt to their first game and share our family traditions with them.
Thank You
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and for considering us in your adoption plan. We genuinely know how much bravery it takes.
Becoming parents is our greatest hope, and we’re so ready to welcome a child into our lives and into the hearts of two loving dogs.
There are days when we both visit what will be our child’s room. It’s the best room in the house since it faces our backyard, so our child will fall asleep beneath the stars and wake up to birdsongs (and maybe a few dog kisses).
As parents, we promise to give your child everything we have to offer: unconditional love, support, acceptance, fun, education, and a community of family and friends who will surround them with care.
Because Sylvia is adopted from Honduras, we deeply understand the vital role a birth mother plays in a child’s story. No matter what level of openness you choose, your child will always know about the loving, selfless choice you made. Sylvia often wishes she could thank her birth mother for giving her the life she has, and we will make sure your child has that same opportunity to honor you one day. We’re sending you all the love, wisdom, and strength as you make the decision that feels right for you and your baby.
With Love,
