Introduction
Dear Expectant Parent(s),
Hi! We’re Rav and Felicia! Thank you for taking the time to learn about our story, our lives and our community.
Our Story
We met at our mutual friend’s birthday party and while our first conversation was brief, sparks flew between us. Just six months later, our paths crossed again and we had our first date in a city midway between our two homes. From that time on, we couldn’t imagine our lives without each other. In 2019, we got married in an intimate ceremony, surrounded by our close friends and family.
Over the past thirteen years, our relationship has deepened and evolved, celebrating milestones, big and small. Through it all, we’ve built a relationship grounded in deep communication, mutual support, joy, and unwavering love.
From the very start of our relationship, we dreamed of becoming parents. Because Felicia is adopted, adoption has always felt like the most natural way for us to grow our family. We’re so excited to welcome a child into our loving home.
About Rav
Growing up as an only child, I developed a knack for making friends and building connections. I grew up in a vibrant, multiracial household where culture, storytelling, and good food were always at the center of family life. My mom was biracial– half Spanish and half Caymanian. My dad is of German and English descent—so holidays and family dinners were always a blend of traditions. Being surrounded by different cultures taught me to be curious, open-minded, and proud of where I come from. I’m excited to share all these experiences with a child.
I’m a passionate and driven person who loves tackling new challenges. Throughout my education, I was a year-round athlete and continued competing in 5Ks and marathons during grad school. Professionally, I’ve been a tech attorney for close to a decade, but consider myself more of a maverick than a stiff suit. What I really love about the work is getting to solve problems in a thoughtful, creative way. I’m driven by curiosity, collaboration, and finding practical solutions that actually work for people.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with Felicia and our friends and being active – whether that’s going for a long run, biking through the city, or taking peaceful walks in nature with Felicia and our dogs. Wherever I am, I love making people laugh. Whether it’s a silly joke or just leaning into life’s awkward moments, humor has always been how I connect with people and make space for everyone to feel at ease.
What I love about Rav – From Felicia
Rav is persistent, consistent, and deeply devoted to the people she loves. We joke that she’s our social coordinator, always reaching out to our friends to plan dinners, bike rides, hikes, or movie nights. She’s a “how can we?” person, never a “we couldn’t possibly” person, which makes our life together so much fun.
Magnetic and funny – People are drawn to her warmth and humor. She’s officiated a few of our friends’ weddings because of her ability to make everyone feel welcome and included. The audience always laughs and cries.
Thoughtful – She’s the person who sends an encouraging text before a big presentation or checks in to make sure you got home safely. She hides funny and encouraging hand drawn cards and notes into my suitcase when I go on a work trip.
Gifted listener – Rav always remembers the little things that matter, which makes everyone feel special. She knows everyone’s birthday — and probably their parent’s and their dog’s birthday too.
Driven – I am so in awe of how she is always pushing herself to learn, improve, and reach new goals. Her drive is matched by her generosity, as she lifts others up—mentoring colleagues and coaching runners with kindness and genuine joy in their success.
Reliable – Rav is the friend who always shows up—whether it’s a late-night call, a ride to the airport, last-minute babysitting, or simply being there to help you through something hard. She’s the person you can count on, no matter what.
About Felicia
I was adopted as an infant and my parents were always open about how our family came to be. I had a loving childhood which gave me the confidence to be myself. Although my adoption was closed, I have carried a deep appreciation for my birth mother, whose strength made my life possible. I was raised by my supportive parents who, even after divorcing when I was young, remained committed co-parents—sharing meals, holidays, and milestones. I grew up cooking big dinners, snorkeling, riding horses, playing sports, working at summer camp, and tagging along on their work trips around the world. Those experiences shaped me into someone who can create calm and direction in any situation, who’s patient, adventurous, and passionate about bringing people together.
Despite studying science in college, I began my career as a fine dining chef, driven by my love of cooking and my passion for sustainability and creating community. After years in the industry, the demanding hours left little time for what I value most: being with my amazing wife, friends, family, and spending time outdoors. So, I made the choice to return to my roots in science.
Now, I’m a marine biologist working in a lab where I get to scuba dive and mentor students as they learn underwater research. Helping them navigate challenges with patience and encouragement to become confident, compassionate individuals, matters deeply to me. The twists and turns of my journey have shown me that choosing your own path takes courage, and they’ve led me to a vibrant, meaningful life that I’m so excited to share with a child. I still love going to the farmer’s market and cooking nearly every night, as I did as a chef, but it’s even better now, because I get to be at the table too.
What I love about Felicia – From Rav
Felicia is the most thoughtful, resourceful and kind person I know. She radiates positivity and knows how to lighten any moment with her quick wit and perfectly timed puns. She’s the type of person who always goes the extra mile for the people she loves. People are drawn to her genuine, grounded spirit and her infectious energy. She’s always feeding family and friends, pouring her heart into every meal. Her food is like a warm hug from someone who knows you best. I’m completely spoiled since eating at home with her is better than dining out at most restaurants.
Compassionate – To know Felicia is to love her. She has the biggest heart—for people and creatures, great and small. Even a quick stop at the hardware store or a wait in the grocery line turns into a moment of connection, where she somehow always uncovers a story or learns something new about a stranger.
Curious – She loves a good project, especially if it means learning something new along the way. She’s always up for a DIY to add her unique stamp on a task.
Authentic – Whether she’s leading a demanding fieldwork expedition or planning a lively family gathering, she shows up as her true self, heart on her sleeve. She’s never afraid to get her hands dirty – bringing boundless energy, thoughtful problem-solving, and a genuine presence to everything she takes on.
Creative – She has an incredible knack for spotting hidden possibilities and turning any space or situation into something special. From reimagining every corner of our home to learning how to be the best mentor she can be for her students, she tackles everything with curiosity, creativity, and an unstoppable “why not?” spirit.
Our Home
Our wonderful home is located on a quiet street in a New England city. Over the past seven years, we’ve poured our hearts into making this warm, light-filled space a joyful home where friends and family love to gather. The breakfast nook in the kitchen is perfect for homework or long weekend breakfasts with friends and their kids. The third floor has a big open den/playroom. Out back, we have a fully fenced-in yard with a garden. It’s our little oasis for barbecues, playtime, and fresh air.
Our home is a hub of social gatherings- big and small. Our guest rooms are regularly full since we enjoy having our loved ones near us. We love that friends and family members know where the dishes go and that sit down meals with belly laughs are not just for weekends.
Our diverse neighborhood is filled with families of all types of backgrounds and a lot of them are our friends. Kids are out riding bikes, playing games or grabbing an ice cream cone at the local grocer down the street. We’re within walking distance of a great library, several beautiful parks, playgrounds and many restaurants. There is a bike path around the corner from us and nature trails only 10 minutes away.
We might spend a Saturday at a nearby museum, enjoying one of the many cultural events that pop up throughout the year, or simply getting outside —usually followed by a treat from our favorite bakery. There are incredible educational opportunities – including bilingual schools, arts programming and almost any sport imaginable. Our city is vibrant, safe, and intellectually rich. We truly believe it’s the ideal place to raise a family.
We also love to spend time out at our vacation house near the coast. The dogs run around the backyard all day. We have a swing set and a big vegetable and flower garden, grape vines and apple trees. On special summer evenings, we watch movies in our barn with our friends and make s’mores at the fire pit. We bike to the beach, swim and paddle board in the ocean, and eat great seafood dinners at night on the screen porch.
Our Support System
We feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a strong and loving support system of our blended family and close friends who live nearby. Our parents are deeply involved in our lives and can’t wait to become grandparents – they’ve already started collecting books and toys for visits. We’re also part of a tight-knit circle of chosen family. These are friends we’ve grown up with, gone to school with, or met through work and shared passions. They are so excited to welcome a child into the circle. We know parenting can be both joyful and challenging, and this circle is one where we show up for each other. Holidays, birthdays, and weeknight dinners are often spent together, filled with laughter and love.
Rav’s dad is a great hiking buddy and will get our little one out on the trails with us. He loves to treat us to a classic train car diner meal. Felicia’s mom can’t wait to teach a grandchild to snorkel and catch crabs, just like she did with Felicia. She always has art supplies with her that she’s happy to share with anyone. Felicia’s dad is the ultimate bedtime storyteller and he’s eager for a little one to come to his farm in Wales and ride horses and play with the farm animals. Though Rav’s mom has passed, we honor her with Spanish traditions and food, especially at Christmas. She loved ending evenings with polvorones, a soft shortbread cookie.
Traditions
We’ve built a life full of traditions that mean a lot to us. Every Christmas is spent with Felicia’s mom, complete with long beach walks, and lots of laughter. We play music, decorate cookies and cook. We love relaxing by the fireplace, doing puzzles, playing games, or curling up with a good book.
Summers are for slowing down and soaking up all the natural beauty when we visit Felicia’s dad in Wales. We unplug, explore the countryside, and reconnect. And every Wednesday night is reserved for the show, Survivor — no phones, no distractions, just us, snacks, and fierce tribal council debates. These rituals ground us, bring us joy, and are something we can’t wait to share and grow with a child.
Hobbies and Interests
Travel and adventure have always been a big part of our lives — it’s actually one of the first things we bonded over. We both grew up with passports in hand, exploring new countries with our families and learning to love the feeling of landing somewhere totally new. That early sense of wonder stuck with us, and now we’re always dreaming up our next adventure — whether it’s hiking through a national park, getting lost in a new city, or just trying a new dish in our own neighborhood. We can’t wait to share that same curiosity and joy with a child.
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our story. We admire your strength and recognize the love and courage it takes to consider an adoption plan. No matter where your journey leads, please know we’re holding you in our hearts with great respect and care.
Though we both were raised without siblings, we’ve become devoted tías (aunties) to our friends’ kids and can’t wait to be parents ourselves. We look forward to bedtime stories, family traditions, silly kitchen moments, car karaoke, and cozy nights at home with a little one by our side. If we’re fortunate enough to be chosen by you as adoptive parents to your child, they will grow up surrounded by unconditional love, security, and encouragement to help them become exactly who they’re meant to be.
We believe in being open and honest about adoption from the very beginning, as Felicia’s parents were with her. It’s very important to us that our adopted child knows their story — and that they grow up understanding that their journey started with love, strength, and a selfless act from you. We are committed to honoring you and your role in their life, and we welcome whatever level of openness feels right and comfortable for you.
We’re so ready – and incredibly grateful – for the chance to grow our family through adoption. Becoming parents will be the greatest privilege of our lives, and we hope, if it feels right to you, that we might walk this path together.
With Love,
