Anthony & Jess - A Full Circle Adoptions

Introduction

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Thank you for reading our profile. Before sharing our story, we want you to know that whatever the future holds, we are wishing you the best in your path forward. Adoption is very close to our hearts and lives. Many of our friends and family members were adopted, have adopted siblings, and are adoptive parents. Our hope is to welcome you into our lives in ways that feel supportive for you. We deeply respect your decision to consider this path.

Our Story

We met outside of a concert — Anthony said it was love at first sight and called his mom the next day to tell her about this girl he’d met. Jess thought Anthony was very charming, but since we lived across the country from each other, did not think it was serious. A year later, when Jess moved back to the area, she realized we were meant to be — a fact which Anthony had known all along.

After living together for two years, Anthony proposed on the beach in 2014. We got married in 2016, then traveled to Vietnam for our honeymoon.

Jess has always felt drawn to adoption, because both her cousin and step-father were adopted. We are very close with her cousin, whom she considers a younger brother, and his wonderful wife. They recently adopted a beautiful baby girl, and we have been honored to be part of their adoption story as our own unfolds.

The decision to have a family is something we discussed seriously over many years. When we found out that having a biological child would not be possible, it felt right that adoption would be our path.

About Anthony, by Jess

I think Anthony can truly do anything. He is a self-taught hunter, mechanic, gardener, barbeque pitmaster, and more. He is devoted to our marriage and home. Taking the mastery of whatever he is doing seriously, Anthony always remembers to keep things silly and fun. When things are hard, he makes me laugh. When I get too absorbed in my career, he helps me stay grounded, because although he’s hardworking, he understands what truly matters in life — being a good person.

Kids are drawn to Anthony, because he always has something to teach them. Our best friend’s children are like our nieces and nephews, and he is a natural with them. An avid gardener, a skill he picked up while helping his Italian great-grandmother grow tomatoes as a child, he loves showing them around our vegetable beds.

He really shows up for the people in his life, always helping friends, neighbors, and his parents with construction projects, landscaping, moving, or anything that needs to be done. He is someone who can really be counted on. I joke that Anthony is the only person I know with real survival skills, but it is true – he is a genuinely self-sufficient person in a modern world who knows how to construct shelter and find sustenance without relying on technology.

I know he will be a wonderful father, because he is so kind, positive, and supportive. He has so much love to give and knowledge to share. Over these years together, we’ve been through many challenges, and he’s always seen us through. I feel so lucky that he is my partner, best friend, and favorite person.

About Jess, by Anthony

Jess is one of the kindest and most outgoing people I know. She has a natural warmth that draws people in, and whether we’re traveling, experiencing a show, or just walking through the neighborhood, she’s always making new friends. That openness, paired with her genuine compassion, is why she has such a close-knit and diverse circle of lifelong friends. I’ve been lucky to get to know them over the years, and call many of them my friends now, too. Thoughtful and loyal, Jess always shows up — whether it’s to celebrate a milestone or quietly support someone through a tough time.

With a deep love for food and cooking, one of her superpowers is whipping up an amazing meal from what seems like nothing in the pantry. She shines when we host gatherings in our backyard — there’s joy, laughter, music, and always something delicious to eat. Jess is also a talented writer, and she’s found a creative outlet through a blog where she combines her love of food and live music, two of her biggest passions.

She is incredibly thoughtful, detail-oriented, and deeply intuitive — qualities that have made her successful professionally and that show up in every aspect of her life. I see these same traits when we’re around our friends’ children — she is patient, attentive, and playful. She inspires me every day to be a better person, and there’s no doubt in my mind that Jess is going to be an amazing mother.

Our Home

We moved to a town just outside of Boston in 2019, and were fortunate to find the perfect house for us. The best part is the huge backyard with our vegetable garden, a chicken coop Anthony built, our mini “pool” made from a horse watering trough, and deck, which Jess uses as her office for more than half the year when the weather is nice. Our six chickens can free range in the yard, shaded by trees.

We both work from home, which gives us flexible schedules and the ability to enjoy our house and backyard. The house is filled with art, books, records, and furniture from our families. We both love to cook and spend lots of time in the kitchen, which pairs nicely with our love of hosting dinner parties. Anthony’s BBQ is famous, especially his wild game, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. Jess specializes in making vegetable side dishes, so we are a perfect cooking team.

Our street is quiet and the neighborhood is filled with many young families who have kids of all ages. We’ve made friends with neighbors who have young children. Our parents and many of our friends are a short drive from us. There is a public elementary school with a playground just a few blocks walk away, and trees and flowers everywhere.

Living in our town provides the best of all worlds, because our quiet neighborhood has access to both the city and nature. We’re close to hiking trails, a short drive from beautiful ocean beaches, and a couple hours from the small cabin on our farm in the mountains of New Hampshire.

Our Family

We grew up in the Boston area, Jess in the city and Anthony in the suburbs. We’re both close with our mothers, who are central in our lives. Very sadly, both of our dads passed away when we were younger, but they had a big influence on who we are as people. We feel incredibly lucky that our mothers married our step-fathers, who are wonderful additions to our family. Anthony’s younger brother lives in Boston. Jess’ sister and husband live in Los Angeles with our little nephew.

Our friends are an extended family to us, which now includes their children.

Everyone is very supportive of our choice to have a family through adoption. Especially since adoption has touched our lives so directly, they know we understand how unique, complex, and meaningful it is to take this path.

Traditions, Hobbies and  Interests

Fall: Jess looks forward to the leaves changing color and Anthony enjoys hunting season for deer and black bear. For the Jewish New Year holidays, we have a backyard dinner with friends and their kids to celebrate the harvest season. Anthony’s favorite tradition is hosting an annual party to make egg rolls filled with the fixings of a Thanksgiving dinner.

Winter: Jess loves the holidays, filled with events, special foods, music, plays, and decorations. We wait until December to put up a Christmas tree, which we decorate with ornaments collected from our travels. Jess helps throw her best friend’s family’s caroling party, which she has attended since childhood. We have potato pancakes on Hanukkah and light the holiday candles. For the winter solstice, we walk around looking at the displays of outdoor holiday lights in our neighborhood. On Christmas Day, we order Chinese food and watch holiday episodes from Home Improvement, Anthony’s favorite show as a kid. Throughout the week before New Year’s, we volunteer to serve dinners at a homeless shelter.

Spring: Anthony plans the garden, picking out which seeds to order. The first things to grow are lettuce, spinach, and herbs. We have Passover dinner with our friends and their children to celebrate springtime. Anthony goes turkey hunting, which is very challenging, but he has had great success! We clean up the yard and are excited to see the daffodils and hyacinths pop up.

Summer: The best time to enjoy our backyard! Anthony waters and weeds the garden, filled with tomatoes, squash, peppers and more, every day. Jess loves to swim at nearby beaches with friends or hang at her mom’s pool. We attend outdoor concerts and music festivals, go camping on Cape Cod, and head to our New Hampshire cabin.

Thank You

We are so grateful that you’ve taken the time to read our story and consider us as adoptive parents.

After many years together, we feel truly ready to have a family and we have so much love to give a child. We want to share our values of living sustainably and close to the land, being good members of our community, and continuously learning and growing as individuals alongside the next generation.

We hope to have an open relationship with the child’s birth parents and their families in whatever way they feel comfortable. Please know that our door will always be open for you to be a part of the child’s life as they grow up.

We wish you the best as you decide what’s right for you and the baby. Thank you!

Warmly,

Anthony & Jess
