Introduction
Dear Expectant Parent(s),
Hello, we are Brenda and Jason. We would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and to consider us as potential adoptive parents to your child. We can’t possibly imagine what you might be feeling or what you are going through. Please try to find comfort in knowing that we will support you and your child in any way we can. We would like you to know we truly appreciate you and you are stronger than you may realize. We have been praying to grow our family and are very excited to become parents to share our love, life, and experiences with your child. As children of God, we are all family but it is you who has given life to this child and for that, we are truly grateful.
Our Story
Brenda grew up in Rhode Island and Jason is from a small town in Massachusetts. Our journey together has been one of love, laughter, and adventure. We were introduced by a mutual friend in 2014 as we both needed a date for his wedding. Our relationship started as fairly long distance because we were residing in different parts of New England. This made each time we spent together extra special as we only saw each other on weekends. Our courtship lasted for five years during which we adopted our cat Cher (Princess Pink Nose) in May of 2018 only to find out she was pregnant and gave birth that summer to six kittens. We found loving homes for five of her babies and decided to keep one, her son Specks (Bubba Fur). We planned to marry in April of 2020 but Covid had other ideas. After changing our wedding date, venue, guest list, and everything else, we were finally wed in July of that same year.
Why We Chose Adoption
We decided to adopt because we have a lot of love to give and desire to grow our family. I, (Brenda) shared a very special relationship with my grandma and I was very close to her, because of this special bond I always prayed that I would one day be blessed with at least one child that I could share the same or similar relationship with. Jason and I are both one of three children and before getting married, we decided we would like to have two children of our own. After experiencing challenges with infertility it has become clear that God has other plans for our family. We believe that everything happens for a reason and adoption is our chosen path. Through adoption, we will be able to share joy and family togetherness and fulfill the desire for this child to be able to have and experience all of the wonderful things life has to offer.
All About Brenda
Brenda is 43 years old, she grew up in Rhode Island. She’s an avid gardener and loves daisies and wildflowers. Spring and Summer are Brenda’s favorite seasons. She especially loves being outside barefoot in the grass of the yard or the sand at the beach. Brenda loves taking walks and breathing in the fresh air whether it’s just going for a stroll around the neighborhood, taking a nearby woodsy path with one of her closest friends, Nicole, or hiking with her husband Jason in the mountains of New Hampshire. Her favorite color is purple and she loves anything leopard. Brenda loves crafting and shopping, especially during a girls’ day with her best friend, Katie. She’s a fantastic baker and enjoys trying new recipes. You’ll often find her listening to music and dancing around the kitchen while making something delicious. Brenda has a love for animals especially her two cats, Cher and Specks. She takes her role as fur mama very seriously. Brenda is very excited to become a mother and looking forward to raising a child that she can call her own.
Brenda’s favorite Things…
I love baking and this is partly because I am able to expose my creativeness through baking and it makes me happy. I also have a sweet tooth and I have always baked with my grandma in the past so each and every time baking reminds me of her.
I love to decorate. For me, it makes my home feel more warm and cozy, especially during the colder months. You’ll find decorations both inside and outside my home during every season and holiday. This is just so comforting to me and makes me happy. I’m a bargain hunter so I almost always find new decorations at the end of each season, which I’ll incorporate the following year.
My two cats Cher and Specks mean the world to me. When I adopted Cher, little did I know she would become one of my best friends. She came to our home form a rough situation and now she has everything and more. She’s come out of her shell after being a bit timid. She’s helped me on days when I’ve had a rough time and Specks has too. Cher will curl up in my lap in the morning while I have my coffee and then there’s Specks. He’ll greet me in the morning by meowing away as if he’s telling me a story. He’ll make “biscuits” on a blanket beside me on the couch and greet me at the front door when I come home. Even at night while watching TV, sometimes they’re both on their cat tree next to the couch and this is very comforting to me. It has been an amazing six yeas with both Cher and Specks and I couldn’t imaging life without them. It’s as if they’ve been with me for my entire lifetime.
All About Jason
Jason is 45 years old and grew up in the small, historic town of Kingston in Massachusetts on Plymouth Bay. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves anything that involves being out in nature; hunting, fishing, hiking, and snowboarding are some of his favorite things. He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While attending Norwich he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Naval ROTC, and the varsity Rifle team as well as many other extra-curricular activities. He currently works as a Manufacturing Engineer at a high-tech company that makes unmanned underwater vehicles. He is known as a Jack-of-All-Trades with the ability to fix or build almost anything and enjoys projects. He is also an avid sports fan of the local professional teams. The Boston Bruins are his favorite, followed closely by the Red Sox, the Patriots, and the Revolution. He is loving, caring, generous, and strong; physically, emotionally, and mentally. He is very even-keeled, has a great sense of humor, and always looks on the bright side of things.
Jason’s favorite Things…
One of my favorite things to do is barbecuing and smoking meats on my grill and smoker. Whether it’s just cooking up a few burgers and dogs on a summer afternoon or grilling a nice piece of fish for dinner, being in front of the grill is one of my most happy places. When smoking, I will usually cook a couple racks of ribs or beer-can chickens or “meat lollipops”, which are chicken drumsticks that eat like lollipops. I have even started smoking the annual Easter Ham for dinner that Brenda and I host for our family. I love getting everything ready, starting the fire and keeping it going for hours as the smoke fills the neighborhood making everything smell delicious.
Having grown up in New England I have become a huge sports fan of all the local professional sports teams. In order of fandom, I love the Boston Bruins (hockey) the most, followed by the Boston Red Sox (baseball), New England Patriots (football), New England Revolution (soccer) and lastly the Boston Celtics (basketball). I am such a big fan of the Bruins that I start growing my playoff beard at the beginning of the season as a superstition with hopes of them winning the Stanley cup. It has become such a tradition that everyone knows there are two versions of me. There’s “Summer Jay” where I am clean shaven and buzz my hair during the Red Sox season and there’s “Winter Jay” where I stop shaving and cutting my hair and go fully mountain man in support of the Bruins.
I have loved Legos since my early childhood. When I was younger my family had a huge drawer in the finished basement that was filled to the brim with loose Legos and fully or partially built models. My brothers and I would spend hours together building anything we could think of. Sometimes working together to build the biggest tower or separately to see who could build the fastest or toughest vehicle. I still love Legos to this day. My family knows that if they are having trouble thinking of a gift for me, they can never go wrong with getting me a cool new Lego set. I really like the Star Wars sets and anything that goes with motorsports like cool race vehicles and exotic cars.
Our Home and Community
We reside in historic Rhode Island in a 3 bed, 1 bath open floor plan single family ranch with our two cats Cher and Specks. Off our kitchen we have a deck on the side of our house and from there headed out back we have a good size fenced in yard with a vegetable garden and a couple of flower beds. Our neighborhood is quiet and diverse with many cultures and age groups. Within blocks we have close friends and some family. There’s an elementary school within short walking distance. Also, there are many playgrounds in the area and our church is very close by. We are lucky to have many amenities nearby including a supermarket, two pharmacies and a great local coffee shop right on the bike path.
From our Family and Friends
I’m Allen, Brenda’s younger brother. I aim to be an engaged uncle, offering both mentorship and fun to my future niece or nephew. Brenda and Jay’s caring nature and strong relationship assure me they’ll excel as parents. Brenda’s support during a challenging period in my life was invaluable, showcasing her reliability and trustworthiness. Jay’s kindness, like fixing a trellis for my mom, reflects his readiness to help and go the extra mile. Their commitment to their cat Cher and her kittens showcase their nurturing qualities. They even adopted one of the kittens themselves, demonstrating their dedication to family. Their love for their fur babies reflects their potential as loving parents. I have full confidence in their ability to create a nurturing and supportive environment for their future child. -Allen

I have known Brenda for 25 years and we are best friends. I have known Jay for 9 years.
Brenda is well grounded, kind and caring. She would give you the shirt off her back and Jay is similar and matches Brenda. He is always kind, respectful and thoughtful.
I know they will be great parents after seeing how they treat my kids. I have a son, Landon, with autism and they have watched him several times and not once have I ever worried about how they would react to his behaviors. They have never treated him differently and continue to treat him like their own.
I would play an important role in this child’s life as his or her god parent. I would be a role model, a shoulder to cry on, a trusted adult figure who will guide them to grow and thrive to be a remarkable human being. – Katie

My name is Joseph Zlogar and my wife, Nadene, and I were married for 48 years before she passed away in June of 2022. Jason is my eldest son and Brenda is my daughter-in-law. I will be known to the child as “Papa” and will bestow my 70+ years of knowledge and skills upon him or her. Jason and Brenda are both devoted to their families, very loving and caring. Jason was very active in Boy Scouts where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and developed excellent leadership talents. He is a great teacher, patient and has a very deep skill set. Family get togethers are always entertaining especially with the nephews and games. Jason and Brenda are great with their nephews; playing video games, building Legos and offering challenges like seeing who can make the highest tower, build the longest or biggest or fastest vehicles. I love the way Brenda and Jason not only share their love but the household
chores too. Cooking and gardening together is one of their favorite past times. – Joseph

They have many strengths but most important would be unity, dedication to each other, and what they want. They are driven and both are very supportive of one another. They are very loving, supportive, consistent and involved. They would express their love and affection consistently and communicate effectively as a team. They would set limits, teach responsibility, be great role models, provide new experiences and manage stress well.
I would play the role of an aunt, as well as be a friend, mentor, sounding board. I would share activities and those would vary widely and evolve as the child grew up. I hope to be playful, supportive, loving and nurturing. -Alissa
