Matt & Kate - A Full Circle Adoptions

Introduction

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us as a couple and prospective parents. We hope that you can see how much we love each other and how hopeful we are to bring a child into our family. We understand how difficult this decision must be for you and are grateful for the opportunity for you to get to know us better. Please know, that if we are chosen, your child will be raised knowing how loved they’ve always been.

Our Story

Our story began online in November of 2021 when Kate’s best friend noticed that Matt ‘liked’ her profile. Kate and Matt didn’t know each other growing up but did attend the same high school. That’s how Kate’s friend knew who he was. After texting for a few weeks, we met up one afternoon and that was it. Now, four years later, we’re completely in love, best friends and excited for our future and the prospect of raising a child together.

Meet Kate

For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a mom. Even if I were able to have a biological child, as an adoptee myself, I’ve always wanted to pursue adoption.

I was a competitive dancer growing up. Although I tried many sports as a child, that was the one that stuck and I danced all the way through college. I’ve always had a love of storytelling through writing, film and television. I graduated from college with a Media and Communication Arts degree and was lucky enough to work in the entertainment industry for more than a decade, where I was able to travel to different parts of the world, before opting to move closer to home and find another career in a creative environment. Becoming a hairstylist has been a great change for me and I am thankful to have a very supportive work family.

Kate, From Matt’s Point of View

When I first met Kate back in 2021, I was immediately drawn to how easy it was to talk to her. Kate is very adventurous and likes to travel which is something that I appreciate. We have gone on some wonderful trips together and have more planned in the future. When Kate was diagnosed with cancer, I was amazed at how strong and positive she remained throughout her treatment. Even on days when she wasn’t at 100%, she would try her best to be available and spend time with me. Kate comes from a very big family and they are very important to her which is a value that we share. I am extremely excited to start a family with her and start the next chapter of our lives.

Meet Matt

I grew up playing different sports, football and basketball being my favorite. When I was in high school I spent a few summers working with local children at a day camp through the Parks and Recreation Department. Once I graduated from college and moved home I had the opportunity to become one of the coaches of the high school football team, where I played as a student. Working with student athletes has been amazing. I have many nieces and nephews that I love spending time with. Playing on the beach, fishing and playing games are some of my favorite memories with them and I can’t wait to be able to do all those things with our future child.

Becoming a dad is something I’ve always wanted and I am excited to be on this journey. Although adoption was never a plan I had before I met Kate, it is something that I am wholeheartedly into to be able to expand our family.

Matt, From Kate’s Point of View

Matt is the most loving and reliable man. He cares deeply for his family and is willing to do whatever he can to help. A year into dating I was diagnosed with breast cancer and Matt never waivered once. He was a constant for me and that made me love him even more. He loves to fish, which is something he can’t wait to teach our child. Matt has helped coach our local high school’s football team for the last decade; the same team he played for when he was in high school. He likes helping the younger guys hone their skills and watch some of them move on to college football. Matt was also a volunteer with Big Brother and worked as a summer camp counselor in town for a few years. He enjoys working with kids. I get to watch him interact with his nieces and nephews and our friends’ children and I can’t wait to see him become a father.

Our Family

Our families mean everything to us. Kate’s parents and Matt’s mom live right in town, and we see them often. Matt’s father and stepmother live on the other side of the state, but we enjoy visiting as often as we can. Matt’s siblings are spread out, but everyone stays connected and up to date with what’s going on in each other’s lives. Kate’s brother passed away, but she has a big extended family. Her cousins have always felt like siblings to her. Growing up they were very close and still are. Many of them are local as well.

We also have close friends that are like family. They are just as supportive and thrilled at the prospect of us becoming parents.

Why We Want to Adopt

Adoption isn’t foreign with either of our families. Kate and her brother were both adopted as newborns. One of Kate’s cousins was also adopted. Kate has always planned on adopting a child. Matt’s stepmother and her brother were also adopted as infants and have talked openly about it.

When we learned that having a child biologically wasn’t in the cards for us, we had no doubts about starting the adoption process since it’s already so positively engrained in our lives. Raising a child is something that we’ve always wanted the privilege of doing. Once we met each other and our relationship grew we knew that was an adventure we want to experience together.

Our Home

Our ranch-style home sits on an acre of land with plenty of space for a child to run around in our fenced in yard. There’s an above ground pool utilized in the warmer weather. Inside, there is plenty of room for everything a child needs. There’s a large finished basement, three good-sized bedrooms and a cozy living room that we spend a lot of time in with our animals. Living in our hometown has created a strong sense of community and we look forward to our child attending some of the same schools we did years ago.

In our home we also have a few ‘fur babies’. Rocco, a Boston Terrier, loves everyone that gives him attention. He is very sweet and just loves being around people. Callie and Beau, our cats, are both sociable and loveable. We always say they are more like dogs than cats. All our animals are great with people, love to snuggle and are very good around children.

Traditions, Hobbies and Interests

Traveling has been a big part of our relationship. Exploring different cities and cultures is important to us. Road trips, antiquing, and finding new things to experience is a common weekend plan. We also like sporting events (mainly football and basketball), concerts, trivia nights and dinners out with our families. We both enjoy working out regularly and try to be as active as we can. We have a boat and like to take that to a local pond or lake to enjoy the outdoors and fish.

Thank you

Thank you so much for taking the time to read more about us and our life. We look forward to the opportunity to add a child into our loving home and family. We appreciate how hard this journey must be for you and wish you all the best choosing the perfect family for your child.

Sincerely,

Matt & Kate
