Introduction

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Hello! If you are reading this, we hope that means you saw something in us that made you pause for a moment. Our names are Alice and Ross and we are very happy to make your acquaintance.

We hope to get to know you better in this process ahead. More than anything, we wish to provide a child with a safe, secure, and loving home.

We have the greatest respect for your bravery in considering an adoption plan. Though we imagine this is not easy, we want you to know that whatever you choose to do in this process, it’s the right decision.

How We Met

Like most people these days, we met online. We feel so lucky that we both swiped right. Lasting connections are rarely made on these kinds of apps, but for us, it worked! Our magnetic attraction only seemed to strengthen when we met in person over dinner and got to know each other.

Our connection grew stronger and stronger in the ensuing years until we married in 2019 and combined our lives together. We moved into our house and were happy, but we realized we weren’t complete yet.

With hopes of growing our family, we started the process! Unfortunately, after several years of trying, we found that having a child biologically is simply not in the cards for us. We are grateful to be on this journey to adoption and have come to the firm belief that however a child enters our lives, they will be loved and cherished unconditionally.

About Alice, by Ross

Though Alice had only a single photo and no description, something about her made me swipe right. To my delight, the feeling was mutual and we matched!

We met up for a first date at a local restaurant and I was immediately entranced by her spark and her humor. She was sharp, quick with a joke, and pretty laid back. When we parted, I knew I wanted to see her again.

I love how her eyes sparkle when she’s excited about something and her sense of wonder and adventure. She’ll drag me out of the house to see the sunflower fields when they are in bloom or to check out a farmer’s market. At the same time, she’s extremely nurturing and likes to run an organized household.

Her work ethic is solid and she shows a positive attitude towards all of her projects. As a senior financial analyst for a large Boston hospital, she is well respected at work and her colleagues often reach out to her for help.

A devoted daughter, Alice often enjoys spending time with her parents. My own parents love her gentle demeanor as well as her warmth and openness. Her soft smile still makes my heart race.

When we married, I knew that we would always be together. She has proven to be the best partner who always thinks about us as a family and I love that about her. I know she’ll be an amazing mother by sharing her sense of adventure and wonder and teaching a little one the importance of responsibility.

About Ross, by Alice

Ross is a great husband, devoted son, helpful brother, cool uncle, and a fun friend to have. He’s the best person to be around, has a great sense of humor and is someone you can rely on. He’s the best partner, and I consider myself lucky that I have found him.

Ross is a Senior Software Engineer and he works at a major software company. He’s very loyal and has been with his current company for 10 years. During the pandemic, we both worked from home which gave me a glimpse into his work life! I can see how he easily solves complicated assignments and how he’s eager to lend a helping hand to his coworkers. He is very much into technology and is a natural at what he does.

Ross absolutely adores his cat, Crafty, who he adopted when Crafty was 2. Crafty is a very mellow, friendly, cute indoor cat. He’s a joy to have around.

I can easily picture Ross being a fun, caring and loving father. I know he will love to spend time sharing his passions and hobbies. In his free time, he loves to watch sci-fi movies, and stays current with all the Marvel movies too. He likes playing video games and reading books, and looks forward to introducing a child to some of his favorites!

Our House

With a great school system and just 30 minutes from the heart of history-filled Boston, our town is a great place to raise a family.

Our large charming single-family house has three bedrooms and all the amenities a family could want: a nice fenced-in backyard, long driveway, and a beautiful large front yard with trees. Our eat-in kitchen is perfect for family meals and our dining room is great for holidays when the extended family comes to visit.

Our TV room (which doubles as a family room) is ideal for family time together. We imagine it will be a great space for playtime and toys. Upstairs, we have three large bedrooms, one of which is already earmarked to be for the child that we hope will be part of our lives.

The neighborhood is quiet and is home to a lot of families with young kids. We often see them riding their bikes around the neighborhood. We aren’t far from the center of our town which offers a lot of activities for families: ice skating in the wintertime, Halloween parades, and a recently renovated library that even has a 3D print lab. One of our favorites spots is a gorgeous lake that is just wonderful for evening walks or runs, a scenic area to push a stroller around.

Living so near Boston, there are lots of destinations we look forward to sharing with a child, including Legoland, the Boston Zoo and Aquarium, and the Boston Children’s Museum. We can’t wait to take a third family member to all of these places and experience the wonder through their eyes.

Our Family

Both of our families are very supportive and like to be involved.

Alice’s parents live nearby and are extremely warm and loving people. The idea of grandchildren makes them tremendously excited and we know they will be involved a lot in this child’s life. Alice’s mother is an excellent cook and Alice takes after her. We can’t wait to start preparing special meals as a family. Alice’s father is very eager to take the child to the playground and share with him or her his favorite ice cream flavor (chocolate chip cookie).

Ross is devoted to his family and makes time to see his parents every weekend. His extended family is fairly sizable and lives in the Massachusetts area. Ross has a niece and nephew that he doted on as babies; they will be excited to have a young cousin to play with.

Our families like to gather around for the holidays, and we always have a great time together. Mother’s Day is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate; we always make sure to have a special mother’s day planned for our moms. Our family is very supportive and excited about the idea of adding another family member. We know that any child who joins our family is going to be loved and cared for very much.

Our friends also have children and we enjoy seeing them when we can. Alice was a day camp counselor during her high school years. She loves to organize fun games for the kids which Ross loves joining in on!

Our Hobbies and Interests

We like to have our family and friends over often and enjoy having barbecues together in our backyard during the summer.

Travel has become a big component in our healthy home life. We like to travel down to Cape Cod in the summertime to hang out at the beach and take time away from things. International travel is also something we’ve pursued, though it’s become considerably harder with the pandemic. For the time being, we mostly take day trips, hiking or going into the city. Leaf watching in Vermont or in New Hampshire is a favorite fall activity.

Closer to home, we like to take walks through the neighborhood since the nature around here is beautiful. There are many trees in our backyard that blossom one after another in the early springtime and well into the summer. We can’t wait to show that to a third little member of our family!

When we aren’t trying to decide where to go, we like to spend quiet evenings together reading or watching movies. Our taste in movies might be a bit different, but we find things we like to watch together. We also like to spend time in our backyard. Alice likes to garden and Ross likes to read or mow the lawn while being outside.

Mostly we find peace and tranquility by just spending time together. Our house is often full of laughter, and we can’t wait to hear a child laugh with us. We are looking forward to reading a lot and sharing our interests in art, literature, and the natural wonders of the world.

In Conclusion

Thank you for your efforts and bravery in bringing this beautiful child into the world. We imagine considering a decision like this is extremely emotional and we wish you the best as you figure out what is best for you and your baby.

Being parents would be the culmination of all our hopes and dreams. If we are chosen as adoptive parents, we can assure you that he or she will grow up in a home filled with love and laughter. You will never be far from this child’s heart or our hearts no matter what kind of adoption plan you choose, be it open or closed.

We are truly thankful that you took your time to read about us. We want you to know that we are thinking about you and your baby and we are wishing all the health, love and luck for you both.

Sincerely,

Alice & Ross
